Clarke County Development Corporation (CCDC) announced at the end of 2016 plans for an aggressive builders incentive program geared at gaining the interest of builders and developers throughout the Midwest to build in Osceola and Clarke County. The builders incentive focuses on providing land with a zero-cost entry point as well as interest forgiveness programs to further encourage development. With housing costs leveling out, developers are still seeing material costs on the rise, so the initiative created by the CCDC is an effort to lower the entry point for builders choosing to develop in the area.

Since its announcement, the program has gained some serious media attention. The release was published and distributed from south central Iowa, but has reached digital and print publications from Des Moines to Massachusetts, Florida , Arizona, and California. Iowa Public Radio also featured the builders’ incentive program as did Iowa’s largest news television station, WHO-TV 13.  Below, you can see the feature which aired on WHO-TV 13 on Friday, January 6th, 2017.
