mayberrys mother's day featureMayberry’s Coffee House and Eatery, located on the south side of the Osceola square, has become a staple for locals and visitors alike. When looking for tasty, homemade goodness along with coffee or specialty drinks and smoothies, there’s no other place in south central Iowa as unique as Mayberry’s. More than their menu and charming atmosphere, the coffee shop is also unique in that it’s a family owned business, run by mother – daughter team, Sue Morris and Molly Crawford. Through start-up and entrepreneurial challenges as well as a pandemic and more, the team shows that Family and hard work will make this Mother’s Day even more special.

In a feature for NewsTalk 1540 KXEL out of Waterloo, IA, Molly discussed the unique experiences she and her family have faced and how working with her mother – and her own daughters – makes all of the challenges of business ownership better.

When asked about Mayberry’s success with the mother – daughter leadership, Molly gave a laugh and explained,

“We’re very much alike, which can be a detriment. But in our case it works pretty well,” continuing with, “She {Sue} taught me everything I know, in the kitchen.”

The Mother’s Day feature also included a bit of the Mayberry’s history, discussing the efforts the entire family team put into renovation of their location on the square as well as some of the struggles the coffee shop faced when hit with the pandemic.

“People have just gone above and beyond in supporting our business,” said Crawford. “The outpouring of concern and care from our community in that time… it’s been amazing. We’re very blessed to live in this community.”

The moments Sue and Molly experience through running a successful business in a community they love will certainly make this Mother’s Day a special one.

While Mayberry’s will be closed for Mother’s Day and the Saturday before, so the family can spend time together, their doors will open bright and early with the Mother – Daughter team ready to help build memories for the entire community Tuesday morning.
