Are you storm ready? Do you want to know more about severe weather and what to look for? The Clarke County Emergency Management Agency and the Osceola Fire Department is hosting a severe weather/ storm spotter seminar on May 18th at 6pm at the fire station. This seminar will be presented by the Iowa Storm Chasing Network and they will have their storm hunter vehicle on display. This is a free training opportunity and open to the public.

severe weather storm spotter informationAre you interested in volunteering to help the community in times of large scale disasters or incidents but don’t have the time to commit to year round fire department involvement? The Clarke County Emergency Management Agency participates in the FEMA program Community Emergency Response Team. This team is comprised of members of the community who undergo basic incident response training and stand ready to deploy. We will have a meeting on May 9th at 6pm in the court house multi-purpose room for interested members. All county fire departments, EMS, Law Enforcement, and CERT will be participating in Hazardous Materials Training. They will be training on May 17th at the Osceola Fire Station. This training will better prepare them for responding to and recovering from Hazardous Materials incident. This is indented to strengthen the existing response capabilities. *note this training is not open to the public
