Southwestern Community College is offering an eight-week Electrical Workforce Training program at the ORBIT Center in Osceola from July 8 through August 26. The hybrid course combines online learning, classroom instruction, and hands-on lab training to help workers and employers build in-demand electrical skills.

The Osceola City Council recently approved a new three-home development by Parson Creek Company, LLC through the Osceola Housing Incentive (O-HI) Program. The project brings the total number of homes approved through the program to seven since its launch in 2025 and highlights ongoing efforts to expand affordable new housing opportunities in Osceola.

At last Wednesday’s board of director’s meeting, the CCDC voted to provide support to Families First, the organization founded by local children and families advocate, Fern Underwood. This vote continues more than 15 years of support for Fern’s legacy: ensuring children have access to activities and programming regardless of income level.
